The exhibition "Mutilated Sky" is a project of three young Ukrainian artists (D. Dotsenko, K. Lapushen, M. Shapranova) dedicated to "fragments of memory" of the past life that was destroyed by war, pain and truth - sharp with bitterness and a hint of hatred.
Dmytro Dotsenko engraved the terrible and unjust events of the war on the canvas "Ukrainian Renaissance" because he feels the responsibility to document them, therefore every symbol, sign or image indicates what happened and is still happening in the occupied territories. The installation "Stolen Childhood" by Konstantin Lapuchen tells about the life of a child of the war, from whom the holiday, brightness, even everyday life was forcibly taken away. Old family photos, photos of close friends, postcards in Maria Shapranova's collage works are communication with the past, "fragments of memory", and each of them is a piece of a puzzle that can be used to deconstruct reality and compose a new story.
Artists understand that there is no way back, it is impossible to return the past life and peace of an entire nation, to return children, parents, relatives and friends. But in their works there is a call to step forward, into the future, not forgetting everyone whose body lies in the ground, and whose soul watches over us from the mutilated sky.
